Early 20th C. Tibetan tie and dye Ladakhi Shawl. This may be older but the traditional hand woven tie and dye Ladakhi Shawls has not been made since 1960's. Today women opt for more common western styles. A few very old women still wear these during festival time. The extra rows near the bottom means that this was likely the village chief's wife's shawl. Also this shawl has a smooth color variation caused by the dying. This one in particular changes color often.
